Pray for our Work with Children at St Francis

Jesus …said to them, ‘Let
the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these
that the
kingdom
of
God
belongs.

- Truly I tell you. Whoever
does not receive the
kingdom
of
God
as a little child will never enter it’.

And he took them up in
his arms, laid his hands on them and blessed them.

Jesus makes it clear
that children are an important part of God’s family.
But both nationwide and here at St. Francis the number of children in
church is in serious decline. As
a parish we are reviewing our work with children and planning a major
consultation this autumn to explore the way forward.

We are asking you to be
involved and to pray
for this consultation and
for Sue Stilwell, Wendy Sellers and the group who will lead us in it.

- But how are they to believe in one of whom they have never
heard? And how are
they to hear without someone to proclaim him?
(Romans 10:14)

- ‘Children are a gift from
the Lord; they are a real blessing.’
- (Psalm 127:1)

- Children are the church of tomorrow
but they are also part of the church of today.

- Their innocence, their laughter,
their wonder, their love remind us of the qualities we need as God’s
children.

- For ourselves and for
children we pray:
- ‘Lord God, we thank you for our children and for all
those who help us find out more about you.’

‘Bless our children, guide their elders,
guard their interests,
keep them safe.’

- As the members together of the
Christ’s Body, the church, we ALL share in the responsibility for
helping children know God. Our
children’s work is not about relying on one gifted person but a ministry of
the whole church.
